Write a resume AND fill out a job application.
Make sure you have all types of contact information for the employer, do not utilize one contact route. Make sure you submit a application in ALL forms: Fax, Email, online application, courier etc. Don’t worry if you submit one too many applications or resumes. The employer usually is impressed with your perseverance, remember they get hundreds of applications a day make sure your resume is remembered.

Your greeting line should never be addressed DEAR SIR OR MADAM or TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: If you are unaware, call the company before hand and ask who the Manager in charge of hiring is Make sure you get the CORRECT SPELLING of their name. Trust me, this one minute to make a phone call is the difference between getting a job and not getting one.
Step 3: Organize yourself. Now that you have made a general template of a killer cover letter and resume. Thank you! This is excellent advice.
What to put on apps after getting fired? The above response does not address that question at all.
It great advice thank you so much, I learned a lot from this.
As far as what to put on applications if you were fired, its either WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS IN INTERVIEW OR COMPANY DOWNSIZED.....this way you can explaine everything in the interview......
Once again thanks for the advice
Firing is never pleasant for anyone. The days of getting a face to face interview are hard to get. Most Companies today are doing online applications, even the Temp Agencies are phone in,and speaking to a recruiter is a joke. You could have the all the best qualities there are but if nobody is hiring you don't stand a chance.Former employers are not allowed to discuss your termination just verify your employment history, but sometimes they over share your work history which they are not supposed to do but it happens more often then people realize.
Timothy, you are very correct. No one has right to talk about someone else without knowledge of the person whom they talk about.
I was taught your Resume should never be 2 pages long!!
